Onsen Neko — Privacy Policy

Onsen Neko ("the App") is a mobile application developed by Garcia&Friends ("we", "us", "our"). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data: When you use the "Near Me" feature, the App requests access to your device's location to find onsen near you. Your location is processed locally on your device to calculate distances. We do not store, transmit, or share your location data with any server.

Favorites & Preferences: Your saved onsen and filter preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not collect or transmit this data.

Analytics: We may use anonymous analytics (via PostHog) to understand how the App is used, such as which screens are visited and which filters are popular. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

Advertising: The App displays ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data to serve relevant ads. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal identification.
• We do not require account creation or login.
• We do not collect or store your precise location on our servers.
• We do not sell any user data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google AdMob — Advertising. Privacy Policy
• Google Maps SDK — Map display. Privacy Policy
• Expo / EAS — App build and update infrastructure. Privacy Policy

4. Data Storage & Security

All user data (favorites, preferences) is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store personal user data. The onsen database is bundled within the App and does not require an internet connection for basic functionality.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

6. In-App Purchases

The App may offer a one-time purchase to remove advertisements. Purchases are processed by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.

7. Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is no personal data to retain or delete. Local data on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the App.

8. Your Rights

You can:

• Deny location permission — the App works without it (the "Near Me" feature will be unavailable).
• Opt out of personalized ads via your device's ad settings.
• Delete all local data by uninstalling the App.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
